Blue Chip Dun is my competition name and together with my brother we are Dun and Dusted.
My registered name is Fyffe Dun and I am a Welsh x New Forest pony standing at 12.2 hh.
All my friends call me Dun. I was born in July 1998 so I am 6 years old.
When I was born my coat was almost yellow and I looked like a banana. So it was the obvious choice to call me after our local banana supplier - Fyffe. It was just as well that I wasn’t born in Luton, Bedfordshire otherwise I would have been called ‘Pratt’ which is the name of Luton’s local banana supplier.
Before arriving at my new home I had learned to wear straps around my head and a seat on my back to carry a very small person with a big person leading me. I did this for about a year but other than that I would run freely in my paddock with my friends.
I now have bigger people riding on me all by themselves. We go out for nice rides with my new friends around the grass tracks and see lots of new things.
To start with the human would walk behind with long reigns and tell me to ‘walk-on’ and ‘stand’ and ‘trot-on’ until I did everything on her first command. Now I can pull a carriage with my brother and we go out in the horse box and meet lots of other ponies pulling carriages with people on them.
When our name is called by the commentator we go into the arena and gently canter around some cones. Lots of peo;le take photos of us and say we look very smart. What do you think?
